What is a Fractional CTO?
A Fractional CTO is a senior technology leader who works with a company part-time. The role covers architecture, technology strategy, engineering leadership, hiring, vendors, infrastructure, security and major technical decisions.
Can you work with a company that already has a CTO?
Yes. This is one of my core services. I provide an independent second opinion, review a particular decision, support a major initiative or work on a defined problem, without replacing the existing CTO.
Do you write code?
Sometimes. I can get hands-on when a situation requires it. But the primary value is making the right technical decisions and helping the people responsible for executing them.
Can you review something built with AI?
Yes. I can review the architecture, codebase, infrastructure, security, dependencies, cost and production readiness of an AI-assisted application.
Do you work with non-technical founders?
Yes. A large part of the job is helping founders understand what technology decisions matter and which ones don't.
Do you only work with startups?
No. I work with any company where technology has become important enough that an experienced technical decision needs to be made.
What if I don't need a CTO?
I'll tell you. The right answer might be a Technical Review, a strong engineering hire, a different vendor, a short project or nothing at all.
Can we start with a small engagement?
Yes. A Technical Review is a good way to start before committing to a longer engagement.

I'm Umid Ghimire. I've worked across software development, product development, cloud infrastructure and engineering leadership. My work has included fintech, enterprise infrastructure and early-stage products across different markets.
I started findthecto because I've seen the same problem from different sides. A company has good people, a good product and money to invest. But nobody has enough time, experience or distance to step back and ask whether the technology decisions are actually the right ones.
